Who? Low Island are Jamie (vocals, guitars, keys, electronics), Carlos (vocals, guitars, keys), Jacob (bass) and Felix (drums, percussion).

What? Emotional electronics.

From where? Oxford.

What’s the story? Low Island started out as an accidental by-product of a theatre score composed by Jamie and Carlos.

When the pair, who had previous form with a residency at The Warehouse in Leeds, began developing something more meaty and long-lasting, they hooked up with old pal Jacob and percussionist Felix to form a four-piece.

Back in January, they signalled their arrival with the sublime debut EP, Just About Somewhere.

Its broken down house and heart-gutting harmonies offered the perfect nocturnal prism into the band’s inner workings and muted world.

It’s a formula that has attracted comparisons to Caribou, Radiohead, Grizzly Bear and even Arthur Russell, and garnered praise from BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne and BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.

Over on Spotify, the four tracks have racked up nearly a million plays between them.

New single Rest Your Heads follows on where the EP’s closer End Piece left off, with a gentle housey vibe and kaleidoscopic synths at the fore.

Fresh from a headline show at London’s Electrowerkz last Friday, they’ve just announced a series of shows next month, including at slot at The Great Escape, Brighton.

If you’re looking for something stereoscopic, synthy and soulful, make sure you seek them out through May and June (dates below).

Sounds like? File next to The xx, Caribou, Rhodes and Boxed In.
