Holy State are a band about tone and intent. The band established themselves in Leeds, UK, through a mutual passion for '90s alternative rock, particularly from labels such as Dischord, Touch & Go, Swami, and from pioneering artists such as PJ Harvey & Girls Against Boys. They played their first show in the basement of legendary local venue Royal Park Cellars, where their infectious loud and warm sound turned unsuspecting ears.

They released their first demo in February 2009, and since then have continued to release material on a variety of labels, including split singles with Pulled Apart By Horses, Brontide, Suckers, & Das Racist. Ethics of hard work and friendship have led to extensive touring and festival appearances, sharing stages with the likes of Oxbow & Melt Banana, and tours with Rolo Tomassi, Biffy Clyro & Blood Red Shoes. This flurry of activity has cemented Holy State a place in the dynamic UK music scene.

Three years after the release of their demo, Holy State are ready to unleash their debut album Electric Picture Palace. Recorded in a Lightship moored on the River Thames, it is an energetic exploration of all their tone and intent. A sonically-inspired vision, it is an example of their passion to create honest, driving songs, as embodied in the title track lyric: 'This is guilt-free, this is fatigue relief.'
