Fjokra is a six piece centred around 22 year old writer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Fiachra Mac Oireachtai, originally from Dublin, now based in London. An early version of the band were formed in 2010 while Fiachra was at Manchester University, with Rory Malkin (guitar and vocals) and Jessica Puppylion Slyrex Kangalee (vocals and sass) surviving into the current London line-up. Following Fiachra’s move to London from Dublin in November 2010, Seb Juliussen (vocals, laptop, samplers and beer keg), Joe Grant (bass) and Sam White (drums) were drafted in to complete the live line-up. All instruments on recordings are played or programmed by Fiachra himself, with Jessica’s vocals being the only non Fiachra element in the recordings.

Following intense rehearsals to learn and consolidate the sometimes complex material, Fjokra performed their first gig at the end of May 2011 and have been gigging in London once a week ever since, their exuberant and unique live presence (not many bands end up in the audience at the close of their shows) garnering supporters and fans at every turn.

Fjokra are appearing at the 100 Club, Oxford Street, London on Friday 21  Oct, onstage at 8pm.
