Born in North London to Bosnian parents, young music maker Yehan Jehan is already an expert in crafting slick, eighties-inspired pop earworms, akin to Tame Impala or Hall & Oates at their dreamiest or stickiest.

Weaned on a stew of classic funk, psych and seventies film music, his debut - Swallow The Horizon - is perhaps the perfect introduction to his yacht-rock like tendencies. It’s hard to resist, especially if the sun continues beaming.

According to Yehan, his debut is ‘a celebration of all things female; sun goddesses and sources of positive energy’.

He continues: ‘The world has been so male dominated and I’m up for it being the opposite. Female energy is more healing for the world, it’s male energy that’s created so much evil in the world.’

On this evidence, we’re really excited for his forthcoming album - you can get to know Yehan and Swallow the Horizon below…

I first started writing music because…
I discovered I could and it became the most important thing in the world. Going to school was the least.

I have been making music since…
I was about eight on my dad’s Mac G3 using the early version of Logic on OS9.

My music is…
Expanding.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Classic songs. Who’s to say. I do hope you like it.

My favourite venue is…
The Roundhouse, ever since it reopened in 2006 it expanded as a supportive institution for young creative people in the area. I got to see so many great gigs there and it’s my dream venue to play one day.

Music is important because…
It’s the purest and most raw expression.

My biggest inspiration is…
Energy.

My dream collaboration would be…
There’s a few, but today I'll go with Snoop Dogg and Sebastien Tellier in the same room.

To try me out, listen to my song…
My first single Swallow The Horizon.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Dancing.

In 10 years’ time I want to be…
More of myself. And dancing to Bowie.
