When it comes to mixing spoken word with beats, then the UK’s Scroobius Pip has one of the biggest and best mouths in the business.

So Buddy Peace and Worgie aka warrenpeace, must be on to something if he’s given them his blessing.

The fast talking duo are the latest act to to Scroobius Pip’s Speech Development label - and it’s an unsurprising move once you've given their high octane mix of hip hop, spoken word and punk the once over. warrenpeace first musically met on Scroobius Pip's Distraction Pieces tour in 2012 and have been brewing up a rough and ready sound ever since – it’s a combination of angry, personal story-telling with energised DIY beats.

The duo’s debut record SDR007 features Scroobius Pip, Natasha Fox and Amy Bullman and is due for release on 2 June. From first listens, it shows that they're a very welcome addition to a roster which already bristles with original artists and music.

Check out our 30 seconds interview below and discover why the duo think their music sounds like a broken glass sandwich…

We first started writing music because…
We had too much in common to ignore and so many ideas to share so it just felt totally necessary.

We have been making music since…
Together for about 18 months but as individuals since we were kids.

Our music is…
A broken glass sandwich served with an open-mouthed kiss and an Old Fashioned.

You'll like our music if you listen to...
It's a big ole mishmash. Here goes; At the Drive-in, Four Tet, The JR Ewing, Fugazi, Skream!, El-b, Horsepower, Suicide, P.O.S, Sage Francis, Death, Flying Lotus.

Our favourite venue is…
Koko is ace - the backstage tunnel network is always fun to get lost in.

Music is important because…
It's everything; totally immersive. It answers questions you didn't know you were asking, and has the power to break you and repair you simultaneously.

Our biggest inspiration is…
Being surrounded by incredible and positive people, who get us tingling with excitement every time we write a new riff or a structure ... it helps us make the best music we are capable of. That and a history of intensive music listening.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Supergroup of: Wu Tang Clan, Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodrigez, Squarepusher, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, FutureAges (WP collaborator Natasha Fox's band), Carla Azar and ?uestlove (drums, all day), Tom Waits and Alison Mosshart. And maybe Prince.

To try us out, listen to our song…

INDOORVOICE.

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Stay at home Dad's for Warren's children.

In 10 years time we want to be...
On album 10.
