Mysterious Liverpool collective Two Islands choose not to feature in their press photos and let their soaring, synth heavy music do the talking.

Their debut, the shimmering, infectious pop of Heaven, recalls the best bits of New Order or Passion Pit but re-fitted for our current age.

The group’s promotional approach (or lack of) is a direct riposte to the sharing culture generated by the omnipotence of the web. In their words, the band are looking to bring back some romance – ‘we’re not looking to hide, we just want to engage through our music’.

You can do just that - get to know their musical magic a little better in our 30 seconds interview…

We first started writing music because…
We wanted to follow in the lineage of Northern bands whose originality and creative ambition have helped to alter our perception of what is possible in pop music. We also wanted to reclaim the romance of falling in love with an artist solely through their songs, something that has been lost in the internet era.

We have been making music since…
We've been making music as Two Islands for six months.

Our music is…
Classic songwriting synonymous with Liverpool but dressed in a modern and unique way.

You'll like our music if you listen to...
New Order, Friendly Fires, Toro Y Moi, Glass Animals, Tame Impala.

Our favourite venue is…
The Invisible Wind Factory, Liverpool.

Music is important because…
It's a universal language and our way of interpreting the world around us.

Our biggest inspiration is…
The mundanity of everyday life.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Daft Punk.

To try us out, listen to our song…
Heaven, the first marker ahead of a stream of output to come this year.

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Who knows.

In 10 years’ time we want to be...
Touring the world making music on our own terms.

Listen to Heaven below.
