If you’ve visited any of the year’s biggest festivals, then it’s more than likely you’ll have danced to the beat of The Other Tribe. This youthful six-piece spent the summer conquering the festival circuit, shaking the stages of Secret Garden Party and Bestival with their war-paint wearing dance music.

James Hill (vocals), Miles Metric (bass/percussion/vocals), Ollie White (drums), Alex Oldroyd (guitar/keys/vocals), Max Cleary (keys/vocals) and Charlie Brown (percussion) met while at Bristol University and bonded over one main maxim - to fuse the excitement of live music with the dancefloor euphoria of a club. It’s this simple, yet effective notion, backed up by huge pop hooks, which have helped the group swiftly progress to the bigger live stages and day-time Radio play.

Summer single Skirts is perhaps their best moment to date. It earnt them plenty of props from bloggers, club players and Radio 1 DJs alike who all fell for the band's colourful pop sound which conjures up images of The Klaxons, Basement Jaxx and Adam and the Ants sharing a night out.

The six-piece are now signed to the Black Butter label, who have just enjoyed a number one single with Rudimental's Feel the Love, while live shows have proved to be a riot of face paint, drumming and sweaty crowds.

M meets the tribe to find out what the future holds and how their dream collaboration involves a unicorn…

We first started writing music because…
We got bored of writing books

We have been making music since…
About 2009

Our music is…
House and techno with vocal hooks and a 'tribal' edge

You'll like us if you listen to...
Dance music

Our favourite venue is…
Dojo's in Bristol

Music is important because…
It's got notes and stuff

Our biggest inspiration is…
Godzilla - HE'S HUGE!

Our dream collaboration would be…
Paloma Faith riding naked on a Unicorn

To try us out, listen to our song…
SKIRTS!

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Dead

In 10 years time we want to be...
Eeerm, in a film - about us - featuring Skrillex - directed by Chris Morris - with a soundtrack by Aphex Twin
