Sweaty Palms have been successfully railing against the indie-rock order since 2014 with their pungent rock ‘n’ roll homebrew.
During that time, the feisty Glasgow crew, made up of Robbie Houston (vocals, guitars), Ronan Fay (guitars), Shaun Montgomery (bass) and Alex Abate (drums), have distilled a pure garage sound brimming with nihilistic rhetoric and rabble-rousing riffs.
Now affiliated to the industrious Green Door Studio, one of the city’s main breeding grounds for ace music, they’ve committed their overwhelming sound to tape.
Sample their chaotic musical moonshine on latest track Pretty Poor for a Posh Boy and previous EP Hollywood Wax. Both fizz with anti-establishment sentiment, dark and unsettling with Stooges-era abandon. Think Nick Cave meets the Fat White Family.
This summer they’re preparing to spread their wayward sound far and wide on a UK tour, including a slot at Electric Fields Festival on the August bank holiday – don’t miss out!
We spend some time with the gang to learn more about their musical make-up…
We first started making music because…
Robbie bought an electric guitar that week.
We have been making music since…
2013, 2014 legitimately.
Our music is…
Whatever you make of it.
You'll like our music if you listen to…
Nothing else.
Our favourite venue is…
Old hairdressers.
Music is important because…
It's all fucked.
Our biggest inspiration is…
Amyl nitrate utopia.
Our dream collaboration would be…
DEVO and Bernie Sanders. Really!
To try us out, listen to our song…
The Tube.
If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Hussling at the four corners.
In 10 years’ time we want to be…
On Celebrity Love Island.
