Producer Ross Tones (aka Throwing Snow) and vocalist Hannah Cartwright (aka Augustus Ghost) first began making music together back in 2010, bonding over a shared passion for off-beat electronica and British folklore.

Following a handful of initial releases, the pair spent two years compiling their debut album A Small Murmuration, which emerged on London nightclub Fabric's record label Houndstooth in 2013 to some acclaim.

Ross has previous as a solo artist, with his Throwing Snow guise being picked up by Thom Yorke and supporting Atoms for Peace live.

Snow Ghosts is a continuation of his electronic experiments but with the added folk atmospherics of Hannah and now Oliver Knowles, who has made them a trio for their second LP, A Wrecking. Held The Light from their record featured on the Channel 4 trailer for TV series Witnesses, demonstrating the flexibility of their cinematic sound… get to know them in our 30 seconds below…

We first started writing music because…
Hannah: We wanted to see what happened when we put all our different influences in to one big cauldron.

We have been making music together since…
Hannah: Ross and I have been making music together since 2010 and we kidnapped Oli 2 years ago when we were invited to play SXSW - don't ask!

Our music is…
Hannah: A dark amalgamation...

You'll like our music if you listen to...
Hannah: Music that is recorded in churches and caves on binaural microphones...

Our favourite venue is…
Hannah: Impossible to answer as we probably all have different ones! Ross and I played St. Pancras Old Church a few years ago, which is pretty magical.

Music is important because…
Oli: Imagine if Africa by Toto didn't exist.

Our biggest inspiration is…
Oli: Collectively I'd say the TV show Vikings.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Oli: Right now, probably Chelsea Wolfe.

To try us out, listen to our song…
Oli: Drought.

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Ross: We all work in the music industry! But if not that probably something food/drink based like a country pub with 'Slaughtered' in the name.
