Tayo Jarrett, better known as Scorcher, is a north London grime artist who has been setting the world of underground raves and pirate radio alight ever since he kicked off his career on the mike in 2005.
He’s been a firm favourite on the grime scene with a series of killer releases in the form of It’s All Love feat Talay Riley, Wretch 32, Kano and Bashy, I Don’t Care feat Loick Essien, One Time feat Fekky and Simply The Best 3, a hugely successful underground mixtape.
His new single Work Get It features Mercston, Ari and well known English rapper and fellow Movement crew member Wretch 32. With a big hook and bass pop sound, it looks certain to make a dent on the charts.
Late 2011 saw Scorcher try his hand at acting with a role as Kamale in Channel 4’s much loved drama Top Boy. With his on screen role and his music Scorcher’s career is on fire right now…
I first started writing music because…
It was just a hobby that all my friends did.
I have been making music since…
I was in my late teens.
My music is…
Like watching a movie at the cinema with 3D glasses on. Feels like you're close enough to touch it.
You'll like my music if you listen to...
Other good artists!
My favourite venue is…
Maybe wherever Wireless is. I’ve got good memories of performing there.
Music is important because…
Because it's the soundtrack to life whatever you're going through.
My biggest inspiration is…
Life itself; it always shows you new things everyday.
My dream collaboration would be…
With Swizz Beatz, for me he's one of the best producers and always brings out a good vibe in his music.
To try me out, listen to my song…
Work Get It or I Don't Care.
If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Somewhere doing something I don't really care about if I'm honest.
In 10 years time I want to be...
Comfortable, happy and on my way to becoming a great artist that stands for something.
