Iranian-born, Sheffield bred producer Pedram’s passion for electronic beats and bleeps runs so deep you half expect him to be made of wires and circuit boards.
While his debut release Nina/Immaturity on James Zabiela’s Born Electric Records certainly boasts an enviable set of studio skills, there’s enough warmth, rich melody and soul to show that he is in fact human after all.
A love of the early Sheffield electronic heroes, the forefathers of the bleep such as LFO and Forgemasters, inspired his first forays into the studio. His initial productions under numerous aliases won him admirers such as Paul Woolford and Nic Fanciulli before he hooked up with Zabiela and his Born Electric imprint.
He’s rapidly become one of the brightest talents on the label, opening their Boiler Room showcase and gaining love from Tensnake and Midlake for his breathtaking first release. When he’s not playing alongside his label boss at the likes of the Warehouse Project, then he’s keeping the home fires burning by bringing the best in electronic talent to Sheffield at his monthly night Ohm Sweet Ohm. Pedam is a busy boy but keep your ears peeled for more music from him in 2014...
I first started writing music because…
I want to relieve boredom in the bedroom.
I have been making music since…
I was 16.
My music is…
Better than anything by Cliff Richard.
You'll like my music if you listen to…
Boards of Canada.
My favourite venue is…
Fabric.
Music is important because…
It helps geeks get laid.
My biggest inspiration is…
4am in a dark room listening to loud repetitive music alongside like minded rave enthusiasts.
My dream collaboration would be…
Aphex Twin.
To try me out, listen to my song…
Nina.
If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Camel traffiking.
In 10 years time I want to be…
In the same financial situation as Calvin Harris but minus the shit music pollution.
