Fans of sixties psyche or more recent purveyors of weird harmonics should get acquainted with the melodic loveliness of young singer songwriter Lou E.

You may have spotted this mind expanding talent on guitar and keyboards for Oscar. But when’s he not helping this neon pop upstart throw up ever colourful musical shades, Louis busies himself recording and writing his own lo-fi guitar melodies, sounding more like he's from a cracked up American West Coast than the South London he calls home.

Both tracks on his latest seven inch - What Do You Do It For?/Next Time - were recorded and mixed in his bedroom and a friend’s garden shed in the autumn 2015. They’re supposedly just the tip of his musical iceberg, with around three albums worth of unreleased material lurking in the wings. If it’s all of the quality of this debut, then you should already open up a file on Lou E dubbed cult genius…

I first started writing music because…
I heard a song in my head and I had to hear it out loud somehow.

I have been making music since…
I discovered the upright piano at my granny's house could get so loud with the sustain pedal that I couldn't hear the adults in the next room anymore which was a relief (age three/four).

My music is...
What makes me happy.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and Jamiroquai.

My favourite venue is…
The Brixton Windmill - always and forever.

Music is important because…
That moment a lyric, riff or sound somehow captures exactly how you've been feeling of late and makes you feel far less alone.

My biggest inspiration is…
My friends. I'm surrounded by some of the most talented people going and it only makes me want to grow and try and be as good at what I do as they are.

My dream collaboration would be…
With Chris Cohen. That man's records are like musical pillows.

To try me out, listen to my song…
Next Time. It's very personal to me so I hope it can be for you too.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
In my first year of university freaking out cause I haven't made as many friends as the other kids and drinking my body weight in shark buckets. Probably not very happy with it either.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Alone, buried under a large pile of recording gear in a cabin out in the woods somewhere. My friends are all worried and have now pretty much given up on visiting as I am irritable and short with everyone, but that doesn't matter to me because my faithful mutt (who I will now name 'Spike') and my space echo is all the company I need.
