Lola Colt are a London-based six-piece spinning hypnotic heartache and art-rocking film noir.

Comprised of Gun Overbye, Matt Loft, Margin Scott, James Hurst, Kitty Austen and Sinah Blohberger, they’ve been throwing psych-tinged shapes for the last five years, picking up their fair share of plaudits along the way.

So far, they've had love from The Independent, The Quietus, The Line of Best Fit, Noisey and The 405 for both their live shows and their recorded output.

Frontwoman Gun adds a spiritual dimension to proceedings, with fierce vocals sitting halfway between The Kills’ Alison Mosshart and Wildbirds and Peacedrums’ Mariam Wallentin.

With an ace new record doing the rounds (Twist Through the Fire), we caught up with the six-piece to learn more about their voodoo sounds…

We first started making music because…
Its creation is somehow therapeutic, and we were young and had issues to deal with.

We have been making music since…
Gun and Matt met in 2011

Our music is…
A way for us to understand the world, take it in, filter it down through our past experiences, dreams, feelings and regurgitate it back out into the world as some new beast, better understood.

You'll like our music if you listen to...
Your heart.

Our favourite venue is…
Amsterdam’s Paradiso.

Music is important because…
It transcends all barriers and speaks directly to the soul.

Our biggest inspiration is…
The people that share our lives. The creative souls that enrich our existence.

Our dream collaboration would be…
With Bill Murray.

To try us out, listen to our song…
Twist Through the Fire.

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Travelling the far-flung corners of the earth.

In 10 years’ time we want to be…
Back in the EU.
