‘Upon telling my mum that I was going viral, she asked me if I needed penicillin!’ says the Facebook page of Kelvin Jones.
Thankfully this talented singer songwriter from Stevenage was not ill but instead picking up a massive online fanbase thanks to his song Call You Home.
The gifted 20 year-old from Stevenage, who taps on John Mayer and Ed Sheeran for inspiration, posted the song on YouTube late last year. It somehow found its way onto Reddit and was subsequently discovered by researchers on Good Morning America. The track was viewed over one million times over 24 hours and all points to a singer songwriter with truly universal appeal.
It’s subsequently unsurprising that tastemakers are backing Kelvin to do great things when his full length debut LP drops later this year. Not sure where to begin on this one, so many reasons. For me, it's an escape. When I'm listening to my favourite song, there's only that moment and nothing else and that's so important to have sometimes.
But music is also important as a background for life, my happiest and saddest memories can be brought back just by playing the song I was listening to when they occurred. I like that.
