London producer, songwriter and vocalist Kelly Lee Owens creates sublime electronics anchored by sub bass wobble.

Over the course of a single EP she can slip from the depths of the late night dancefloor to the lofty heights of ambient pop, and back again.

Having cut her teeth in the capital’s record shops and co-penning Daniel Avery’s track Drone Logic (her first foray into the world of music-making) back in 2013, she quickly found her feet with her own perfectly hazy brand of bassy bedroom pop.

Now, in the wake of three sublime singles, which have drawn comparisons to everyone from Bjork to Arthur Russell, she’s gearing up to release her anticipated debut album.

We catch up with her ahead of an appearance at Latitude Festival tomorrow to learn more about her beguiling boundary-blurring sounds…

I have been making music since…
2013 officially, when I first started collaborating with Daniel Avery - that gave me the confidence to start writing and producing my own tracks!

My music is…
So far hard to pigeonhole. Each track slips in to different genre territories which is what excites me.

My favourite venue is…
Probably St-Martin-In-The-Fields.

Music is important because…
‘Creativity which cannot express itself becomes madness’, Anais Nin.

My biggest inspiration is…
Bold, risk-taking, uncompromising artists and people.

My dream collaboration would be…
I couldn't just pick one sorry…
Alive: Tony Allen // Bjork // David Byrne // Thom Yorke // Nick Cave.
Dead: Fela Kuti // Arthur Russell // Delia Derbyshire // Bowie // Nick Drake.

To try me out, listen to my track…
1 of 3. I feel that track encompasses the mixture of immersive pop and the also dance elements.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Working in trauma medicine maybe. I'd like the adrenaline am am fascinated by the human body.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Writing scores for films // still putting out records // putting on immersive art installations that explore sound // running workshops for female producers.

Live dates:
