Keel Her

Keel Her is Rose Keeler-Schaffeler, a fuzz-loving DIY chanteuse who likes to smother her dainty vocals in a blanket of warm reverb. Don't miss her upcoming Independent Venue Week show.

Keel Her is the musical outlet of Rose Keeler-Schaffeler, a fuzz-loving DIY chanteuse who likes it best when her dainty vocals are smothered in a blanket of warm reverb.

Since 2009 she has been exploring the underbelly of just about every indie-based sub-genre going, from retro electronics to surfy garage-rock.

With releases on various cassette labels, and her own full length eponymous album in 2013, she’s now well versed in what works and what doesn’t, and has become a master of spectral shoegaze.

We caught up with her ahead of her show at the New Cross Inn, London, for Independent Venue Week tomorrow (28 January) to find out more about her glimmering sound…

I have been making music since...
2009.

My music is…
Changeable.

You'll like me if you listen to...
The first Julie Ruin album.

My favourite venue is…
Audacious Art Experiment, Sheffield

Music is important because…
It means I don't go crazy (it may not be important to anyone else, but if it is that's great).

My biggest inspiration is…
Something that I cannot pinpoint.

My dream collaboration would be…
Akiko Yano.

To try me out, listen to my track…
Go or Roswell.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Sad and/or bored.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Well-travelled, making music, hardly working, procreating.

Gigs
