Jack Ridley is the latest sonic adventurer to unpack his wares at Dan Carey’s Speedy Wunderground label and studio.

With a musical compass pointed firmly in the direction of John Maus, Captured Tracks and The Cure, his sound is rainbow flavoured, synth-heavy psych-pop.

The art school graduate turned bedroom producer first caught the attention of Speedy Wunderground’s Pierre Hall last year, who was blown away by Jack’s fully-formed sonics.

They’ve since spent time in Dan’s South London studio, culminating in the eight-minute long debut single Everything (Deathless), which lands on 10 February.

We catch up with Jack to find out how it’s all going so far…

I first started making music because…
I had to scratch the itch.

I have been making music since…
My early teens.

My music is…
Only really mine until it's out in the world.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Your demons.

My favourite venue is…
The Royal Albert Hall.

Music is important because…
Music is truth.

My biggest inspiration is....
It changes, but coffee is a good start.

My dream collaboration would be…
Rainer Rilke.

To try me out, listen to my piece…
I only have one so that one for now.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Listening to more music.

In 10 years’ time I want to be…
Hopefully in a very different political landscape... yeah, I know.

JW Ridley supports Ten Fe at Oslo, Hackney, on 9 March.
