He needn't worry. His vocal style deftly skips over hip-hop and neo-soul to deliver a moment of calm in amongst the hustle and bustle of synocopated rhythms. And, with echoes of John Legend, he offers a gentler take on the urban South London sound.
He started writing in 2009 and released a couple of well-received mixtapes before dropping his debut EP Skydive last October, which features ItsNate and M.S Harris.
Check out our 30 seconds interview with him:
I first started writing music because…
I admired Stevie wonder, Tupac, Donny Hathaway, Paul Weller and later A Tribe Called Quest. Their songwriting influenced who I became!
I have been making music since…
I was 16 years old.
My music is...
Warm.
You'll like me if you listen to...
Anything with a lazy pocket for a drumbeat!
My favourite venue is…
XOYO in Shoreditch, the sound was amazing!
Music is important because…
Like Superman needs the sun, I need music to sustain me just as a person.
My biggest inspiration is…
My family and friends and the level of support they have given me, they wouldn't even know that.
My dream collaboration would be…
To write a song with Paul Epworth.
To try me out, listen to my song…
Heaven.
If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
In some kind of law, probably criminal. Either that or as an illustrator
In 10 years time I want to be...
Still proud of the music I make.
