Sheffield favourites Hot Soles are doing their very best to rip South Yorkshire’s live music scene a new one with a hot wired blend of riffs and raw, souped up vocals.
Frontman Kieran and drummer Richie may take their props from the classic sounds of Little Richard and Aretha, but they’ve given these influences a radical, supercharged overhaul for 2015. There’s so much blood, sweat and tears flaying around their lean, muscular songs, your ears will need a lie down after they’ve finished with them.
The obvious passion and love of playing means the Hot Soles garage rock sound far surpasses any accusations of nostalgia. So far it's catching on with the pair taking part in sessions with the legendary Duane Eddy on BBC Radio, performing to 20,000 people to honour Jessica Ennis' homecoming and galavanting around the European festival circuit delighting ever increasing crowds.
In just over three minutes, debut single proper Glorious Blunder is the perfect encapsulation of their sound, a feel good rocking, rabble rouser of a tune which you can imagine taking the roof off Leeds or Reading Festival (if there were roofs in the great outdoors). If you’re a believer, then brace yourselves. On this form, Hot Soles should be running straight out of the garage and into the bosom of the mainstream…
We first started writing music because…
We wanted to get out and play live for pure enjoyment.
We have been making music since…
In this outfit May 2010.
Our music is…
Garagy and soulful, an audible representation of our current inner vibe.
You'll like my music if you listen to...
MC5, Led Zep, Otis Redding.
Our favourite venue is…
Almost impossible to single out. However the most recent gem is Cafe INDIEpendent in Scunthorpe. The place has very hospitable staff and an awesome welcoming crowd.
Music is important because…
Some people wouldn't be able to express themselves.
Our biggest inspiration is…
Any tune with phat riffs and rare groove.
Our dream collaboration would be…
Freddy Mercury and Bernard Purdie.
To try us out, listen to our song…
Glorious blunder, out now…
If we weren't making music we would be…
Full time dreamers trying to lose our virginity.
In 10 years’ time we want to be…
Still expanding to a big fat creamy back catalogue of music.
