Intimate electronic soul is the world of Hannah Lucia, a singer songwriter taking the template of US R&B and giving it a uniquely British spin.

This may be due to her choice of residence, as she currently splits her time between London and Brooklyn in New York.

She’s made an elegant mark over 2015 after the release of her debut Lights Out, produced in cahoots with Ben Bronfman (producer for Kanye West and M.I.A.). Her blend of sultry vocals and emotional honesty have been hit with BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra both offering support as well as picking up positive energies in the more on-point sections of the music press.

Latest release Don’t Hold Out is even better, a futuristic moment of sensual R&B using the darker elements of The Weeknd and James Blake as a sounding board to ricochet off. Meet an essential new voice…

I first started writing music because…
I enjoy having an outlet for my emotions. Plus growing up I was quite good on the piano and writing so lyrics and poems came easily.

I have been making music since…
Since I was 14.

My music is…
Heartfelt.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Donna Summer.

My favourite venue is…
Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Music is important because…
It brings people together and makes us all feel better!

My biggest inspiration is…
My father.

My dream collaboration would be…
Mark Ronson.

To try me out, listen to my song…
Don’t Hold Out.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Starting a record label.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Looking at the Grammy on my shelf, sitting next to the man I love.
