‘Rip it up and start again’ is a maxim at the hub of Great Ytene, a quartet united by their love of thunderous noise and rhythm.
They started out life as an outfit called Colours before replacing sounds, members, then even their name to find themselves. They then lost an album of music back in 2015 before knuckling down again to dedicate six months to creating new material.
Debut album, Locus, out today (17 February), is the result, an abrasive, distorted nine track record full of almost krautrock-isms and post punk edges. We spent 30 seconds with frontman Leon to learn more about the band and their music...
