Gentleman’s Dub Club know how to get a party started.

This nine piece live act have come a long way since they first exploded out of a Leeds basement some years ago.

The group - featuring Jonathan Scratchley (vocals), Tommy Evans (drums), Kola Bello (keys), Nick Tyson (guitar), Toby Davies (bass, synths), Niall Lavelle (percussion), Matt Roberts (trumpet), Kieren Gallagher (sax) and Harry Devenish (sound) – mix up classic reggae and dub styles with more hard edged bass. It’s a winning formula that has seen the outfit win over festival crowds across Europe with sweaty, energised sets at Glastonbury, Bestival, Secret Garden Party and Outlook in Croatia. At the same time, support slots with the likes of Roots Manuva, The Streets and The Wailers have helped spread the sound of these well dressed chaps even further.

Their debut LP FOURtyFOUR was released on last year on Ranking Records while new single Unbreakable sees them hooking up with Solo Banton… catch the gentlemen out on the road this October

We first started writing music because…
We were blown away by the energy and power of the UK sound systems (specifically Iration Steppas).

We have been making music since…
2006 as Gentleman’s Dub Club. Members of the band have been making music since they were children!

Our music is…
Electronic dub/reggae although our influences range from ska to heavy metal.

You'll like our music if you listen to…
Fat Freddie's Drop, King Tubby, Lee Scratch Perry, High Tone, Iration Steppas.

Our favourite venue is…
Subdub Leeds (West Indian Centre).

Music is important because…
It unites people regardless of where they’re from.

Our biggest inspiration is…
Sound System culture, scientific endeavour and love.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Jah Shakka.

To try us out, listen to my song…
High Grade:

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Rich.

In 10 years time we want to be…
Doing what we’re doing now.
