South London hip hop star in the making Fekky began his musical journey on the microphone only two years ago but has already established himself as a major new player on the circuit.

It’s the release of Still Sittin’ Here which has really done much to herald his arrival. Fekky goes up against grime pioneer, Dizzee Rascal on this reprisal of Boy in da Corner’s opening track. Not only does it see Dizzee laying down one of his best rhymes in years but shows Fekky to be a more than capable contender when squaring up with the big league.

The follow up, Let It Go, showed off a totally different side to Fekky. A more introspective track, the song has all the hallmarks of early Roots Manuva at his best. The two songs make for an unstoppable double whammy which established him as a great new talent, one underlined by his nomination for best hip hop artist at the MOBO Awards. Although he didn’t win, Fekky still delivered an electric performance at the event alongside fellow new player, Meridian Dan. An album El El Clasico, is expected later this year.

I first started writing music because…
I wanted to tell my story and show people how to have a good time. I also wanted to turn what some people would say was a negative situation into something positive.

I have been making music since…
I always loved music but I was quite late to making my own.

My music is…
HYPE (but if you dig deeper you can find more).

You'll like my music if you listen to…
NWA, Rick Ross, Dizzee Rascal, YG, Lil Wayne, 2Chainz, Skepta, 50 Cent.

My favourite venue is…
Koko, Camden.

Music is important because…
It can transport you to a different place from where you physically are.

My biggest inspiration is…
Dr Dre.

My dream collaboration would be…
Drake.

To try me out, listen to my song…
I’ll have to say two songs to hear my different sides: Still Sittin’ Here (with Dizzee Rascal) and Let It Go.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Making money one way or another!

In 10 years time I want to be…
On my 10th world tour!
