Formed in 2015, London Evawolf started off life with their debut song, When The Truth Is Out, released later that yea to some acclaim and chalking up well over 300,000 listens on Spotify.
Since then, they’ve chosen to expand their line up to a four piece and toil away in the shadows, honing and evolving a dramatic guitar-based sound drawing its power from the influence of the Smashing Pumpkins and Fleet Foxes.
2017 has seen the group already in the thick of the capital’s musical action with the new Yellow Ribbons EP marking a step forward in terms of sonic ambition and songwriting skills.
With a launch gig at the Servant Jazz Quarters earlier in March, they’ll be hoping to take their sound onto bigger stages over the course of the year. Meet them in our new 30 seconds interview…
We first started writing music because…
Nothing else matters.
We have been making music since…
The beginning of time, immemorial. We've all been in lots of bands over the years, from punk, to bluegrass, to new romanticism and grunge, and this is probably a culmination of all of the above and more.
Our music is…
Pretty listenable actually: a mixture of folk, rock, blues, country, indie and pop.
You'll like our music if you listen to...
Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, Smashing Pumpkins and the wholesome advice from your parents which you are yet to take on board.
Our favourite venue is…
The Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston. We've done a few shows there now, the acoustics are great, and the crowd - band intimacy ratio is perfect.
Music is important because…
We could all be dead tomorrow. It's somewhat reassuring to think that maybe along the way you might get to leave some kind of sonic impression of your own.
Our biggest inspiration is…
A week in a weathered old cabin in the the woods, with a guitar and a bottle of the good stuff.
Our dream collaboration would be…
With the late, great George Martin.
To try us out, listen to our song…
Yellow Ribbon, Terms of Surrender or When The Truth Is Out
If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Crying into our pillows and lining the seemingly-bottomless pockets of the under-appreciative ... actually, come to think of it we are still doing that.
In 10 years’ time we want to be...
Invariably rid of our student loans.
