Trinidad-born West London rapper Ember Phoenix blends his love for US R&B with a uniquely British style for maximum musical impact.

His culturally diverse background can be heard in music which draws on trap, classic hip hop as well as more traditional R&B slickness. While critics have claimed fans of Chance the Rapper will be intrigued by this new talent, he’s very much his own man. To add more fuel to the hype fire, Ember's also been co-signed by Grammy nominated producer Beast, who shows up on an instrumental of recent single Jodeci.

It’s all looking promising for Ember in 2017 - spend 30 seconds with him below...

I first started writing music because...
God made me dope.

I have been making music since...
I could hold a pen.

My music is...
Wavey.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Drake, Bryson Tiller, PND.

My favourite venue is...
Nando’s... does that count?

Music is important because...
It gives me life.

My biggest inspiration is...
My mother.

My dream collaboration would be...
Adele, she’s dope af.

To try me out, listen to my song...
Jodeci - out now.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be...
Thinking about making music.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Making music.
