London based, alt-pop artist Ella On The Run has a background blending Swiss, French and South-African heritage before she settled in the UK as the base from which to launch her musical projects.

Ella has a great grounding for a successful pop career. After studying music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the US, she began recording under the current guise in LA with producer/cowriter Matthew Bang.

Earlier this year her debut single Golden Boys emerged to some acclaim, receiving a place on Glastonbury's long list for emerging artists and now she’s busying herself with the follow up War of Words.

Orbiting the worlds of electronic pop with a side serving of dance, this latest, sultry downtempo is another step forward for an artist who is doing a good job of turning the heads of tastemakers. Aaliyah, Robyn and Lykke li are good ways in for new listeners but expect more definition of her musical character via future collaborations with co-producer, Swedish prodigy Lukasz. Look out for live dates and more music in 2015…

I first started writing music because…
I think it is an essential part of being a well-rounded artist today and of course for me it's very therapeutic to just let it all out in a song.

I have been making music since...
I was about five. Probably before but that was considered noise. My mum stuck me into a children's choir so I would have an outlet for my energy!

My music is…
Sexy, quirky with a little bit of an edge.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Anything from early days Madonna to Jessie Ware back to Led Zeppelin.

My favourite venue is…
No longer open! I used to host nights at the Soho Revue Bar which is now closed and I always wanted to perform there. Otherwise it would be pretty amazing to play the Shepherd’s Bush Empire one day. Or the Roundhouse.

Music is important because...
It inspires all human emotions! It's the pulse of mankind, I don't think we would survive without it.

My biggest inspiration is…
My life and experiences as well as those of people closest to me.

My dream collaboration would be...
Calvin Harris! I loved his music since Acceptable in the 80s.

To try me out, listen to my song…
War of Words.

If I wasn’t making music I would be…
A crazy cat lady.

In 10 years time I want to be…
Doing whatever makes me happy and fulfilled! Oh and did I mention the Grammys?
