A Love from Outer Space is the roving club night of electronic music veterans Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston.
While being the hotspot for the more tuned in dancer, it’s also acting as a conduit for some of the most exciting electronic talent.
Scott Fraser, Timothy J Fairplay and Daniel Avery are just some of the producers and DJs to emerge from under the wings of mssrs Weatherall and Johnston. Craig Bratley can now be added to this motley crew of music makers turning out captivating and utterly danceable bleeps.
Craig releases records via his own Magic Feet. Big moments he's sourced to date include the amazing Liza Richardson remix of Fela Kuit’s Eh Oh while he’s also put out music for the likes of a Lowdown, Robsoul, Foto, Is It Balearic and Instruments Of Rapture. His latest tracks Obsession on Weatherall’s Bird Scarer imprint and remix of Out Cold’s Synchronised on Heavenly Recordings have done even more to beef up a rep which keeps getting beefier.
You can check Craig's skills on the decks when he joins Ewan Pearson at Islington Mill in Manchester on 4 October.
In the meantime, read our 30 Seconds with Craig where we dig a bit deeper and get to know his musical mojo…
I first started writing music because…
Electronic music blew me away. I wanted to be involved and I wanted to create it.
I have been making music since…
I’ve been attempting to make music since I was at school when a few friends had little set ups. I would go around there and mess around.
I got serious about it several years later, built my own little set up and studied Music Production at college.
My music is…
Sincere.
You'll like my music if you listen to...
Groove-based, authentic, electronic music.
My favourite venue is…
Barbarellas in Croatia. I played there in July for the Electric Elephant festival. It was hands down the best venue I have ever played in.
Music is important because…
Sometimes its kept me going. I couldn't imagine life without it.
My biggest inspiration is…
The people around me.
My dream collaboration would be…
There are quite a few. Alison Moyet would be great though.
To try me out, listen to my song…
Obsession
If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Trying to make music
In 10 years time I want to be...
Retired! I've not given it much thought to be honest, I hope I'm still involved in music in some way
