A half Greek Cypriot, half German brought up in London, Chris Kaz is an electronic soul artist mixing up sonic styles through a diverse filter.
Chris is an artist and film maker as well as songwriter making music that veers from electric elegance to bass heavy two step full of cracks and kinks. His debut release Track 01 is a great introduction to his talent, a twitching moment, ripples with bass and soul.
With fans such as Julie Adenuga from Beats 1 and BBC 1Xtra's Jamz Supernova, he's also unveiled another slice of musical goodness in the form of Save Us, produced by Brooklyn-based producer The 83rd.
If you're fans of the likes of Sampha or The xx, then Chris and his artistry is for you. We spend 30 seconds with him below…
I first started writing music because…
It was the only creative expression i had and was evident since a very young age.
I have been making music since…
I was nine year’s old and played classical piano.
My music is…
Underground classical electronic.
You'll like my music if you listen to...
Anything with The 83rd on it.
My favourite venue is…
Electric ballroom, Koko.
Music is important because…
It comes from nature and is a powerful entity to reconstruct and influence
My biggest inspiration is…
Time.
My dream collaboration would be…
Chris Kaz and The Cinematic Orchestra.
To try me out, listen to my song…
Track01.
If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
A waiter in my dad’s Greek restaurant.
In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Doing my thing.
