Brixton native Carns Hill is a fast rising rap producer who’s been making some serious noise on BBC Radio 1Xtra, SBTV and Rinse FM.

A lynchpin of his local scene, Carns works with MOBO Award-nominated newcomers 67 alongside Blade Brown, Youngs Teflon and Potter Payer, among others.

He also produces for R6, whose storming redruM reverse track has racked up nearly two million YouTube plays in less than two months.

Now touting the excellent Family First collaboration LP, featuring mainly South London acts, we thought it was high time to catch up with Brixton’s man of the moment…

I first started making music because…
I saw a studio one day and it inspired me to find out what it was all about.

I have been making music since…
I was about 15 years old, so basically since I was in secondary school.

My music is…
Unique, strange, different, art.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Music.

My favourite venue is…
Revolutions Bar in Clapham.

Music is important because…
It's a DIY thing, anyone can make, share or appreciate it.

My biggest inspiration is…
New sounding music; new sounds, formulas and patterns.

My dream collaboration would be…
I don't have a dream collaboration, I just want to make good music with talented people.

To try me out, listen to my song…
Youngs Teflon ft Nana Dams - Me Again.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Teaching people how to make music.

In 10 years’ time I want to be…
Legendary.

Family First is available now through iTunes.
