Manchester’s Cabbage concoct junk yard rock as insouciant as their name. With a big tour planned, you can eat their musical greens at a town near you soon…

Manchester five piece Cabbage concoct junk yard raggedy rock and roll as insouciant as their name.

Lee Broadbent (lead vocals), Joe Martin (vocals, guitar), Eoghan Clifford (guitar), Stephen Evans (bass) are Asa Morley (drums) make up the various limbs of the band, brewing a flaying, unhinged sound exploring and challenging the political turbulence of our times.

Conjuring up images of the Fat White Family, or their home city’s Buzzcocks, the group must certainly be doing something right amid the chaos - they only formed in December, released debut single, Kevin, in January and have since supported the Fall and Yak on tour.

Latest release, Dinner Lady, is out now on Tim Burgess’ O genesis label with the video opening with one of the band vomiting into a bin. Which says a lot but not enough. With the band due to head out on tour this autumn, you’ll be able to munch on their musical greens at a town near you very soon…

We first started writing music because…
We were cringing for punishment and needed a catharsis in the form of sound.

We have been making music since…
It depends if crying is defined as a musical art form. If so from birth.

Our music is…
Psychobilly bum funk, discordant neo post punk, loud topical garage sex noise.

You'll like our music if you listen to...
Other major chords songs with depravity engraved in its fabric.

Our favourite venue is…
Aatma, Manchester.

Music is important because…
Esuaceb tnatropmi si cisum, please understand.

Our biggest inspiration is…
The sound of a fork on a plate, the inevitable fall of capitalism.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Another cabbage from an alternative universe or Sleaford Mods.

To try us out, listen to my song…
Dinner Lady or Kevin until the new single is released

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
On minimum wage or dead.

In 10 years’ time we want to be...
On our tenth album.
