Songwriter and producer Brolin is shrouded in mystery. No one knows his name or his face as he chooses to wear a mask like contemporary SBTRKT.

However, his music couldn't be more open and honest. His songwriting is both telling and anecdotal while his music is both accessible and stripped back post-The xx style. He's only just released his debut EP Cundo, featuring leading track Reykjavik which has been remixed by Peaking Lights, as well as Soundcloud favourite Lisboa.

Organically growing in popularity - thanks to a strong presence on the likes of Soundcloud and YouTube - Brolin has already played a few gigs this year to critical acclaim and has a busy tour schedule ahead of him, including Liverpool Sound City.

We caught up with him in between gigs to ask him how long he'd been making his music, and how he's cultivated his distinct style.

I first started making music because…
It allowed me to be creative.

I have been making music since…
I was 14.

My music is…
Melodic, cinematic pop.

You'll like me if you listen to...
Brian Maiden.

My favourite venue is…
Empress Ballroom, Blackpool.

My biggest inspiration is…
Jack Slater.

My dream collaboration would be…
Hoddle & Waddle.

To try me out, listen to my song…
NYC.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Bored.

In 10 years time I want to be...
Making music.
