Blludd Relations

Blludd Relations is the wonky pop partnership of Jesse Hackett from Elmore Judd and Nathan Jenkins (Bullion). The pair have been crossing their songwriting beams since they were introduced via a mutual friend at London’s Plastic People. They describe Blludd as the natural fusion of the names of their two past outfits and the result is the gloriously chaotic and colourful sounds of their self titled debut album. It’s surreal, ear-bending business from two genuine mavericks…

Producer Bullion (aka Nathan Jenkins) is one of the busiest, creative music makers in underground pop circles.

Indeed he seems incapable of staying in one sonic place for any length of time before releasing a record under another alias or via a different label. His music has emerged on Young Turks, One Handed Music and his own Deek Recordings.

Deek was created by Nathan and Mikey Stirton as a vessel for a diverse sounding yet strong music, full of character and eccentric personality. It’s seen Nathan release records as both Bullion (Love Me Oh Please Love Me), Nautic and Blludd Relations as well as take control of all production duties for the label’s releases. It’s meant his Portobello flat has become a hub for Deek with their team (including Jesse Hackett, Laura Groves, in-house designer and musician Otis, Tic (4)) all gearing up for a busy 2014.

Blludd Relations has arguably been the most well received of all the releases thus far. Jesse and Nathan take props from their love of synths and destinations they’ve travelled to. Their debut consists of ten gloriously off-kilter moments, all underlined by a keen ear for a pop hook. It makes for a gorgeous, mind expanding listen. We first started writing music because...
A friend put us in touch and we found musical common ground, fast.

Our music is...
Odd synth pop (not slop) that employs the use of instruments from all over the world and is playful and makes us laugh.

You'll like our music if you listen to...
DEEK Recordings.

Our favourite venue is...
Servant Jazz Quarters in London. We've had two DEEK Recordings nights there and the atmosphere and sound was warm. No green tomatoes were thrown.

Music is important because...
It transcends all other forms of communication.

Our biggest inspiration is...
Family & D. Suzette.

Our dream collaboration would be...
Us & Fred Frith. (Frredd Relations)

To try us out, listen to our song...
Playing For You.

If we weren’t making music we’d be...
Making art of another kind.

In 10 years time we want to be…
Recognised for what we do, be earning enough money to keep creating and eating green muffins with Steven (see video).
