Bipolar Sunshine is the strikingly named alter-ego of Adio Marchant, the one-time frontman of Manchester hopefuls Kid Sunshine. He's now a solo artist making some serious musical waves on his own.

Adio's previous six piece outfit saw comparisons to the likes of Madness and The Streets but his solo output is more difficult to pin down. His Chorlton roots stand out in the strong storytelling running through the songs while the production draws on a more experimental and emotive sound. The tracks on his EPs to date Love More Worry Less and Aesthetics manage to blend a big way with an anthem, yet still wear his heart on their sleeve.

Since last summer, Adio’s solo career has been gathering pace, having landed him support slots with Haim, Bastille and Brit award winners Rudimental. He’s also worked with the latter to create his track Distance as part of the Bacardi Beginnings project.

Summer 2014 will see Adio striking out on tour playing a series of shows at the likes of the Parklife Weekender and Wychwood Festival and prepping more new material. .

Find out more about him in our 30 seconds and listen to the amazing Fire below…

I first started writing music because...
It was the only way I know to get my feelings out without doing something drastic.

I have been making music since…
I was young. I wrote my first song when I was 12. It was a love song beyond my tender years, it was worth the try though.

My music…
Puts a smile on your face, it just depends on how you wear it and how far you allow yourself to get absorbed in it.

You'll like my music if…
You listen to artists who captivate, who manage to convey a message that speaks to your soul.

My favourite venue is…
The Apollo in Manchester.

Music is important because…
Without it the world would be unbearable.

My biggest inspiration is…
My mum.

My dream collaboration would be...
Morrissey.

To try me out, listen to my song...
Fire.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be...
Working in music, maybe a manager or a traveller.

In 10 years time I want to be…
Alive. Everything else is a bonus.
