Antix is a London-based hip-hop artist with roots in Jordan, France and the US.

He’s been a vocal figure on the capital’s scene since he first emerged in 2010 and the release of his debut studio album, Flammable Grammar, a record combining the classic hip hop of Wu Tang and Outkast with his outspoken rhymes.

Second LP Question Everything continued his upward musical career progression with further props from the likes of BBC Introducing and MTV, plus live shows with Bone, Thugs’n’Harmony and Tha Dogg Pound.

Forward to 2015 and the hip hop artist is continuing to do his bit to push the envelope. His track Come Home, released in conjunction with mental health charity MIND, sees him dealing directly with anxiety issues related to his brother’s battle with mental illness.

Antrix’s latest release Afshin’s Song is about renowned Iranian painter Afshin Naghouni, an artist who was attacked by the police for attending a party of mixed gender. Meet a hip hop star who’s talking in different tongues to his contemporaries…

I first started writing music because…
I was a reckless teen that got expelled from three schools, and it was pretty much the only thing I enjoyed in my life at that time. It started as a hobby and developed.

I have been making music since…
A year or so after my mum died back in 2002. I only started taking it seriously years later though.

My music is…
The only thing that keeps me grounded and gives me perspective. My writing process is such that I really work through the emotions as I am doing it.

You'll like my music if you listen to...
Anything lyrical, melodic and from the heart.

My favourite venue is…
Hollywood Bowl. I saw Buena Vista Social Club opening for Goldfrapp there one time and it was amazing. I am going to pack it out one day and put on a monster show.

Music is important because…
It unifies us. I have people writing to me about certain songs, saying that it changed their whole life. Very few things in this world have that power.

My biggest inspiration is…
Truth, love and people who are unafraid to be themselves. Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to have your eyes open to see it.

My dream collaboration would be…
Hans Zimmer. Don’t ask me why - I just have this idea that I want to explore, and his mastery of atmosphere and ambience is a part of it.

To try me out, listen to my song…
Come Home.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Unhappy.

In 10 years’ time I want to be...
Touring the world, and providing a life for all those people who have invested time and love into me now.
