South London rapper Adian Coker has been getting hype in underground circles with a fiery, contemporary take on hip hop.

Since his debut mixtape Lights Fantastic in 2012 and follow up heater Cream, Adian has achieved some critical success with the likes of BBC 1Xtra and The Fader both celebrating his talents.

His latest work is the Connect EP, a six tracker showing off his wordplay, slick delivery and often fierce bars. It’s a release showing that he’s now coming into his own as both a producer and behind the mic. We spend 30 seconds with him…

I first started writing music because…
My music teacher needed to fill the final space on a music production course.

I have been making music since…
Since I was 13.

My music is…
Hip-hop mixed with pop sensibilities.

You'll like my music if you listen to…
Very good music.

My favourite venue is…
Village Underground

Music is important because…
It transports you to your favourite memory in an instant. Anything that can do that is extremely important.

My biggest inspiration is…
Kanye West.

My dream collaboration would be…
Kanye West. Or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

To try me out, listen to my song…
Been There.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be…
Thinking how I could make music.

In 10 years’ time I want to be…
Doing exactly what I’m doing now … but with a lot more people listening to me.
