Jeremy Fabinyi To Step Down From Licensing Role At PRS for Music

With effect from 1st September Jeremy Fabinyi has stepped down from his role as Executive Director Licensing at PRS for Music.

Holding the position for 9 months, following the appointment of Robert Ashcroft as Chief Executive in January, Jeremy will move into an advisory role, both to the Chief Executive and the organisation as a whole, on a range of business issues.

Jeremy joined PRS for Music in 2005 from Paris where he had spent three years working on international authors' rights for BIEM and CISAC, and over the next five years progressed from managing the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) to Executive Director of Licensing with responsibility for all revenue generation and licensee relations. This included a six-month stint as acting Chief Executive, during which he successfully stabilised the organisation, and particularly its relations with major rights-holders, following the departure of the previous CEO.

On behalf of the board and the management team, I would like to thank Jeremy for his enormous contribution both to PRS for Music and to the industry that he has served, and continues to serve, with such distinction.   I look forward to continuing to draw on his unrivalled experience and knowledge in the future.

Robert Ashcroft, Chief Executive

Jeremy started his career as a radio and television journalist for ABC in Australia, and as a correspondent reporting on the music business from Los Angeles.   Following a number of years making films and music videos in Europe, he returned to Australia and set up an artist management company.  His most successful acts included Mental as Anything and The Wiggles.  In 1992 he was recruited as CEO of the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society and the Australian Music Publishers Association (AMCOS & AMPAL) where he remained for six years before being appointed as Group Managing Director for News Corp’s Australian and New Zealand music interests: Festival Mushroom Records, Festival Publishing and Festival Studios.

The Executive Director of Licensing role will not be replaced within the organisation.  With immediate effect Keith Gilbert (Director of Public Performance Sales) and Karen Buse (Director of International) will report to the Chief Executive. Jez Bell, formerly Director of Broadcast & Online, will be promoted with effect of 1st September with responsibility for Licensing, Broadcast, Online and Recorded Media, reporting directly to Robert Ashcroft.
