Royalty Policy Manager

Location: The role will be based across our office in London Bridge and remotely as we operate a hybrid model of working
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum
Term: 18 month fixed-term contract with potential to become permanent
We have an exciting opportunity for a Royalty Policy Manager (known internally as Distribution Policy Manager) to join our Membership team on a full time basis. Initially this role is a 18 month FTC with a view to become permanent. We operate fully flexible hybrid work pattern. You will work work 1-2 days from our London Bridge Office and the rest remotely. 


About the Role

As part of a small team, you will help drive the development and implementation of distribution policies which govern how we value and distribute royalties to our members when their music is used across broadcast and online platforms and in public places.
You will manage multiple ongoing pieces of policy review work of varying scales and prioritise business needs effectively through managing key stakeholders in other teams, particularly Operations, Licensing and Membership. You will develop expertise and communicate complex issues concisely to internal and external parties of various levels of understanding and seniority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and develop creative distribution policy proposals which seek to increase the accuracy and efficiency of royalty distributions, evaluating potential impacts on our members and on business operations, in alignment with company strategy
  • Communicate clearly the background, rationale and impact of policy options to senior management and board members, the wider membership and external parties of various levels of understanding
  • Coordinate and drive implementation of business change resulting from policy work, identify, actively engage and collaborate with key stakeholders in other teams, particularly in Operations, IT, Licensing and Membership
  • Coordinate and deliver data analysis demonstrating impacts of policy change on the flow of royalties
  • Respond efficiently to time-sensitive royalty distribution work by developing understanding of specific operational processes
  • Devise and manage approaches to distribute lower value ad hoc revenue items in line with policy
  • Promote policy knowledge across the business, contribute to the planning and prioritisation of the team’s work as well as to wider business development projects

Experience and Profile

  • Experience in presenting complex ideas and data clearly and concisely
  • End-to-end management of research and data analysis work
  • Experience building effective working relationships across teams and departments
  • Able to produce detailed written reports and presentations for a range of audiences
  • Able to coordinate and deliver implementation of new business processes with minimal support
  • Able to communicate appropriately with senior management and board members
  • Willing to support wider business development projects by developing expertise in relevant processes or data
  • Extensive experience working with MS Excel and other MS Office programs
  • Educated to degree level
  • Royalty or music industry experience (preferable)
