Digital Covermounts

MCPS

Digital Covermounts : Trial, non-precedential short term licence

The agreed rate position for digital music covermounts will run until the end of 2011. This is a short-term trial rate which is valued at 50% of the AP7 and AP7N licensing schemes offered by MCPS, non-precedential.

This is a joint MCPS and PRS licence covering both the mechanical and performing rights.

The same methodology for calculating rates under AP7 and AP7N is used to calculate fees for digital music covermounts and then the resulting value is halved. By way of example, the following demonstrates this calculation:

AP7N

Base Prices for Digital Covermounts

50% of magazine cover price (subject to a minimum of £1.65 even if this sum is not equal to 50% of the cover price).

50% of newspaper cover price (subject to a minimum of £1.10 even if this sum is not equal to 50% of the cover price).

Track Limit

The upper track limit is 15. The Base Price is uplifted by the royalty rate (6.5%) for each track over the 15.

A separate licensing approach is used for general entertainment digital covermounts.
