The same methodology for calculating rates under AP7 and AP7N is used to calculate fees for digital music covermounts and then the resulting value is halved. By way of example, the following demonstrates this calculation:
|
Music use |
Primary content (e.g. music CDs) |
Primary content (e.g. music CDs) |

Rate |
6.5% x base price x circulation of publication |
6.5% x base price x circulation of publication |
| Digital Covourmout Fee: |
Rate x 50% |
Rate x 50% |
Base Prices for Digital Covermounts
50% of magazine cover price (subject to a minimum of £1.65 even if this sum is not equal to 50% of the cover price).
50% of newspaper cover price (subject to a minimum of £1.10 even if this sum is not equal to 50% of the cover price).
Track Limit
The upper track limit is 15. The Base Price is uplifted by the royalty rate (6.5%) for each track over the 15.
A separate licensing approach is used for general entertainment digital covermounts.
