The world of music

World disco ball

Established in 1914, the Performing Right Society (PRS for Music) is a non profit member organisation of composers, songwriters, authors and publishers of music of all styles - including classical, pop, and jazz as well as music for films, advertisements, radio and TV.  The essential function of PRS for Music is to collect royalties on behalf of its members and those of affiliated societies worldwide.

Through a network of reciprocal agreements with affiliated societies the PRS for Music represents the majority of copyright music from countries all over the world.  Music composed by writers from countries on the list below forms "the PRS for Music repertoire".

In the UK a Music licence gives the right to use any music from this huge collection.

Note: Where a country is not specifically listed, it may be that their writers or publishers are represented through an affiliated society of a different country.
