Music channels are channels that feature music videos or music programming in the majority of their schedule. If your channel/s is broadcasting our members’ music on a music channel, the right licence for you is our Music TV Licence.
The Music TV Licence royalty rate is 6% of annual gross broadcast revenue (minus advertising costs), subject to minimum fees of £15,000 per year, per channel.
Our repertoire includes the vast majority of specially commissioned music, library music, classical and chart music from the UK and our worldwide affiliated societies. Regardless of whether you buy in your programmes or make the content yourself, if your broadcast material (programmes, adverts and trailers) contains our members’ music then you will need a licence from us.
What next?
All TV broadcasters are allocated a specific PRS for Music account manager to advise you and answer any queries you may have before, during or after the licensing process.
Please contact the TV licensing team on tvchannels@prsformusic.com and we will arrange a meeting with your new account manager to put your Music TV licence in place.
