    Competition terms and conditions
  • The Entrant may enter the Amplify Mixmag Competition (the “Competition”) for a chance to win studio time with Timo Garcia. 
  • The Competition is being run by the MCPS-PRS Alliance Limited, trading as PRS for Music, 29-33 Berners Street, London, W1T 3AB (the “Promoter”).
  • By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Competition Terms and Conditions and by any subsequent published revisions of them and by the decisions of the Promoter which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition.
  • There is no fee to enter the Competition.
  • The Competition is not open to employees of the Promoter, their families, suppliers of the Prize and any other individuals or companies associated with the Competition. 
  • Only one entry application per individual or, in the case of a joint entry, group of individuals (the “Entrant”) will be accepted. Entrants must be 18 years of age or over and a UK resident. An individual can submit a joint entry with up to four individuals. 
  • The Entrant must be the official creator of the Submission. The Submission should include a completely original musical composition (the “Track”), the copyright in which should be owned by the Entrant. The Track must not feature any samples or have been previously released. The accompanying written Submission should be no more than 250 words on the subject of “what you love most about dance music and which songwriters have inspired you”. Any MP3 file submitted must be under 25 mega bytes in size. Entries should be made by email to competition@mixmag.net with your submission and mp3 file/soundcloud/mixcloud link.
  • All entries must be received no later than midnight on 14 June 2013 (the “Closing Date”).
  • Tracks entered will be judged based on quality of composition. The quality of performance, vocals and production is not a consideration.
  • One individual or joint Winner(s) will be selected by a panel of judges who will include Timo Garcia and a member of the PRS for Music team after the Closing Date from a shortlist prepared from the applications received by the Promoter (the “Winner(s)”). The judges’ decisions are final and binding and Entrant agrees by entering the Competition to accept and abide by the judges’ decisions. 
  • The Winner(s) will be announced on the Promoter’s and possibly in addition on Mixmag’s website and magazine too and the Winner’s name will be available on request from the Promoter.
  • The Winner(s) agree to participate in any reasonable publicity for the Competition as well as any other promotional events. Entry into this Competition constitutes the Entrant has the authority to and agrees to give permission to use Winner(s) names, likenesses, recordings, videos and voices for promotional and publicity purposes on the PRS for Music websites and member communications and on other third party websites and in publicity and promotional materials and press releases.
  • The Winner(s) will win (the “Prize”) a full day’s studio time in Brighton with Timo Garcia who will help create and engineer a track, offer advice and share his tips on how to get the most out of a studio. PRS for Music will arrange for the Winner’s track to be released. The Winner(s), if not already members, will subject to satisfying other PRS and MCPS membership criteria also receive writer membership to PRS and MCPS for which the joining administration fee will be waived.
  • The Prize is as described, is not transferable to any other individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.  The Winner(s) will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the studio and at their own expense.
  • Personal information collected through the application process will be used only for the purposes of running the Competition and, in the case of the Winner(s) to the extent provided for in this Rules.
  • The Promoter reserves the right not to offer the Prize to any Entrants if no suitable applications are received.
  • The Promoter accepts no responsibility for: (a) lost, late or undelivered entries, notifications or communications; and/or (b) any event which may cause the Competition to be disrupted.
  • Proof of submission shall not be proof of receipt. 
  • The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. All stated information, eligibility and submission guidelines, terms and conditions of entry, and entry information may be subject to change or modification by the Promoter without notice.
  • These terms and conditions shall be governed by and in accordance with the laws of England and each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
