We offer two different categories of membership; writer membership and publisher membership. In order to apply for the right type of membership please select the relevant option below:
A writer is the creator of an original song or piece of music. This includes writing lyrics and musical notation.
A music publisher is a company or individual who enters into an agreement with a writer to exploit the writer’s musical works to the benefit of both parties.
Join PRS for Music as a writer if your music is currently
Published members should check whether their publisher is a member of MCPS. If so, it may not be necessary for a writer to join MCPS directly, as the publisher will collect royalties from the MCPS on behalf of the writer and pass them on.
Join both MCPS and PRS for Music as a writer if both of the above apply.
