Dumfries played host to the Traditional Music Awards for the first time to mark the end of the year of Homecoming in Scotland. The gala concert and awards ceremony saw Scotland’s three tongues (English, Scots and Gaelic) celebrated through a remarkable series of performances which included teenage instrumentalists Koda, the outstanding Treacherous Orchestra and recognition of Octogenarian Gaelic singer Rona Lightfoot in the Hall of Fame courtesay of the Feisean movement.
For the first time, PRS for Music sponsored the Composer of the Year Award and were delighted to recognise the outstanding composition skills of young PRS Member Mairearad Green from the Wester Ross village of Achiltibuie.
The ceremony and gala concert was broadcast on BBC Alba TV and is available via the BBC iPlayer.
