Win a gig at the Glastonbury Festival

GlastonburyQ Magazine, QTheMusic.com and Glastonbury Festival are teaming up to offer a band or solo artist the chance to win a slot on the Pyramid Stage at the 2010 festival.

To be eligible for The Emerging Talent Competition you must be a musician from the UK or Ireland and not signed to a major label. Speaking about the competition, Q Editor-In-Chief Paul Rees said: ‘In an ideal world, the act that wins this contest will make their first appearance next summer and headline the Pyramid Stage in 2014’.

Glastonbury has run the Emerging Talent Competition for the past five festivals, the competition has launched the careers of bands such as The Subways, Golden Silvers, Scouting For Girls and We Have Band. The competition will be judged by major music industry figures, including Glastonbury organiers Michael and Emily Eavis, BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens and Q's Editor-In-Chief Paul Rees.

Emily Eavis said: ‘New music is an integral part of Glastonbury and we want to give the best new bands a chance to play on the Pyramid Stage. Last year, as well as the winners performing on the John Peel Stage, all the finalists got gigs on smaller stages, too. We look forward to hearing from all those unsigned bands who want a chance to play next year, which is looking set to be very special as it's our 40th anniversary.’

To enter, artists and bands can upload two tracks at www.qthemusic.com/glastonburynewtalent. A shortlist of eleven and one wildcard entry will qualify for the live finals in March at Pilton Working Men's Club. The wildcard entry will be chosen through a public vote by QTheMusic.com users.

The competition closes Monday, 25 January 2010, but  earlybirds who enter before December 31 2009 there is a chance to win a slot at the Queen's Head, the Glastonbury Festival stage curated by Q, as well as the chance to compete for the main prize.
