Roland’s new ‘toy’, the SonicCell, is an easily portable 128-voice MIDI sound module with a built-in USB audio interface that makes an ideal piece of kit for songwriters and performing musicians.
You can plug a MIDI keyboard in and play SonicCell’s super-realistic acoustic instruments, drums, or percussion sounds.
If you connect SonicCell to a desktop or laptop computer you can edit its functions using the included editor/librarian software.
As a USB interface, SonicCell allows you to record and playback audio and MIDI with virtually any MIDI or audio software on Mac or PC, and it comes with Sonar LE software for PC
SonicCell’s coolest feature is to play back WAV, AIFF, MP3 and MIDI files to provide musical backing while you play along with this at a gig.
With a street price of £600, SonicCell is ideal for computer-based musicians and live performers. roland.co.uk/soniccell
