UK Government backs Gowers Review
The UK Government has backed the Gowers Review on copyright term.

One of the recommendations in the Gowers Review was that the term of copyright protection for sound recording remain at the current 50 years. The Department for Culture Media and Sport says it backs that stance.
The announcement comes shortly after John Whittingdale MP submitted a select committee report into new media and the creative industries. The report urged the UK Government to press the EC to bring forward proposals for an extension to copyright term for sound recordings to at least 70 years.
