The poet from Filthy MacNasty’s

Pete Doherty serves up an antidote to the tabloid obsession of him in March when Orion Books publish a volume of his journal writings, dating from 1999 to the present day.

Doherty once described himself as 'firstly a poet from Filthy MacNasty's and secondly a rock singer', and the work, condensed from twenty volumes of writing on his official website French Dog Blues, charts his life from pre-Libertine anonymity to the present day living under the glare of the media.

It is filled with poems, drawings, personal reflections, lyrics and collages. Ian Preece, commissioning editor at Orion Books describes the work as 'intimate, honest stuff, very readable and very funny in places; pretty dark in others.'
