The Cure to be crowned Godlike Geniuses

The Cure are to be honoured at the 2009 NME Awards with the prestigious Godlike Genius Award.

The prize is the weekly magazine's version of a lifetime achievement award and includes John Peel, Manic Street Preachers and The Clash amongst its previous recipients.

The band will play a set at the awards ceremony, due to take place at London's Brixton Academy on 25 February 2009.
