James Findlay, a traditional singer, guitarist and fiddler from Dorset has won the final of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award 2010.
As the Young Folk Award winner, James will go on to record a session for the Mike Harding Radio 2 folk programme and is booked to perform at three of the most prestigious folk festivals in the country: Cambridge Folk Festival, Towersey Village Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.
The Young Folk awards are open to musicians between the ages of 15 and 20 who play folk or acoustic roots music. The awards have been running for ten years and have been a launching pad for young talent. Previous winners of the competition include Tim Van Eyken, Uiscedwr, Jeana Leslie & Siobhan Miller, Jarleth Henderson and Megan & Joe Henwood.
