Following the death of Michael Jackson on Thursday June 25 your tributes have been flooding in to our online condolence book.
Paying tribute to Michael’s influence on music, your comments have labelled him as a ‘genius’, ‘iconic’ and ‘the ultimate performer’. Carol Kidd MBE commented that Michael ‘changed the music world’, while Nigel Elderton, MD of Peermusic UK, spoke of how Michael’s music ‘touched all of our lives.’
Many of you reminisced about how his music played the soundtrack to parts of your life and cited Billie Jean and Thriller in particular from among Michael’s vast catalogue.
As well as his music, you also paid tribute to the way Michael broke down barriers, moving black music further into the mainstream and paving the way for many of today’s musicians.

We are all is shock. This is the biggest loss music has suffered in our lifetime. If you make music to make people dance, if you make music full stop, you can't help but be influenced by Michael Jackson!!!
A true genius, who crossed the boundaries of age and race, the like of which we will NEVER see again.
R.I.P.

Michael was a great showman and entertainer, who spanned the ages with his music. It si hard to believe that Michael has been taken from us at the young age of just 50. love and god bless.

Being 34 years old, I grew up loving Michael Jackson. He was my idol. I used to sit in front of his life sized poster in my bedroom and close my eyes and wish that he would come to life. I even had the red jacket with the zippers.
I always felt sorry for him. Despite his wealth and fame, he was all alone. He was a very misunderstood human being.
I am very saddened by his death, as are millions around the world.
Michael’s music was always a source of fun and dancing, for everyone. He will be greatly missed.
May he finally find peace.
Amen

Michael Jackson was an icon and will always be one of my favourite musicians. It’s a sad day for the world right now as he did so much and touched so many people’s lives. I grew up listening to Michael and put on shows for my parents and their friends in the basement. I tried my best to mimic all his moves but as we know no one can do it like Michael. He will be sadly missed and was a great music influence in my life.
R.I.P Michael.

I am so sad to hear of the death of Michael Jackson. It is tragic that his lost childhood meant he could never - and never wanted to - grow up: but as Paul McCartney has rightly said today, he was a sweet 'boy-man', a Peter Pan who could only truly relate as one child to another. As with many great artists he transformed a psychological handicap into positive energy and produced a unique and magnificent body of work. RIP.

R.I.P Michael, you will be sadly missed by all!
Gone, but most definitely not forgotten!

Michael Jackson showed us all what real music is all about. Emotion, soul and energy. He set a standard which so many musicians have attempted to replicate. He is a true legend and reminds us all of the quality of music that encompassed that era.

No matter what you thought of him as a person, he really was the ultimate showman…song writer and story teller. RIP MJ

Whatever Michael Jackson’s personal foibles,
the genius behind the showman,
the musician, the songwriter,
the inventor and re-inventor of the mysterious persona
and the ultimate Thriller on stage,
the gentle to the furious,
the light shone bright within him.
The boy-to-adolescent-to-man journey
shared and observed with the masses for literally decades,
this guy was something else,
and his death marks the end of one captivating era.
Rest in peace, Michael Jackson.

All The Ragamuffins would like to send their sincerest thanks to Michael for giving the world such beautiful music. For all the personal troubles that came with the territory of being thrust into the limelight at such an early age, and then becoming the biggest solo artist ever you can find little fault with the stream of incredible songs you put out.
God bless.
David - The Ragamuffins
Elegy To Passing
Wake me when day is done
I dont wanna carry on
The light from this place
Shines dark in my face
Wake me when day is done
Save me a piece of clay
To carve on another day
But draw down the shade
Let the evening fade
And save me a piece of clay
The world is all full of thieves
And even the righteous deceive
Sometimes its fair
Sometimes I dont care
The world is all full of thieves
No one is here to stay
And memories will fade away
Now is our chance
For a beautiful dance
No one is here to stay

With the loss of Michael Jackson we have all suffered a little death in our hearts. We should rejoice in his legacy and be grateful that through a troubled life he triumphed as an artist. Even the most cynical could see that he performed with the innocence of a child and his enormous talent will be greatly missed.

I can't believe you've gone, you'll be missed greatly in my life and in the lives of others. I have loved you for nearly 30 years and will always be one of your biggest fans. May God's love be with you, your family and your children. Rest in peace.

I remember how every time Michael Jackson brought out a new single and video it would be a family occasion to all sit round and watch Top of the Pops and be totally awed by it. Stuff like Black or White where the faces change and the whole big story before the song kicks into 'Remember The Time' and how the Earth Song video is the only thing I've ever cried at on TV. It was such an event and never failed to blow us all away and brought us all together. I feel a sadness and a sombre mood is over us all. RIP. x

I was asked to produce the Jacksons album ‘Destiny’ in 1978 - seeing Michael rehearsing with his brothers at their house in Encino was a revelation – the man was a humble genius and no-one will ever replace him – a very sad day for the music industry and for the world.

Elvis, John Lennon and now Michael Jackson - the great three all not with us.
An icon and legend has passed away but his legacy never will.
Rest in peace Michael- what a musical genius

What can I say.
Michael has been in my life as long as I can remember. I am 45 and each of his songs tells a chapter in my life.
I have three young daughters who were all looking forward to seeing his live show, as was I. I have seen him before but wanted to share this legend with my own family.
He was an absolute genius and part of my life dies with him.
God bless him and his family.

A true genius who inspired an entire generation of music lovers. Michael may have passed, but his music will never be forgotten.

Such a sad loss to the world - it's so very rare to see prodigious talent emanate from the inner core of a person - Michael Jackson had this in abundance.
Stephen J. Wood
Since I've been alive Michael Jackson has been the ultimate performer, he strived to be the best and most incredible creation in entertainment and he succeded, he inspired me to be an artist and i would not have had the wonderful life and lived a dream without having him as such a powerful insperation. His legacy will live on through every entertainer as his dedication to music, video, songwriting, perforning, vision, skill, dance, art, compassion will never be surpassed or forgotten. He was a man of heart who struggled to be understood, he was the ultimate individual. RIP MICHAEL. Thank you for outstanding work, the ground breaking videos, the inventive and magical dancing, the voice of an angel, the beautiful and timeless songs, the heart, Thank YOU FOR EVERYTHING...

I personally feel I have lost a good friend and am deeply saddened by such a loss to the world. He will never be replaced, he will remain the king of pop forever.
It's a massive shame that the world as a whole did not follow his examples of kindness, love of people (especially children). Lets hope the world takes note of his music especially his Earth song, which will probably become the most inspirational song to put the world in the right direction, to preserve the world we live for our children. He was a great man.

Truly the King of Pop, LONG LIVE THE KING!

I was lucky enough to see Michael on both the BAD and DANGEROUS tours and he was awe-inspiring to watch and the atmosphere was always electric – the audience were hypnotised by his presence.
I am glad so many people are paying tribute to his creative genius not just as a singer but as a dancer choreographer, producer and charity campaigner – his talents were endless, flawless and he is a legend in his lifetime.
He was part of my childhood and Billie Jean will always make me want to dance....
